Hate messages found in museum suspect’s car

June 11, 2009

Can’t say that I am surprised by this. It is just too bad that such a mean old man has had such a long life. One of those weird quirks, when so many good die young and we are left with people like this guy.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A handwritten message in a notebook found in the car of the man accused of fatally shooting a Holocaust museum security guard boasted, “You want my weapons — this is how you’ll get them,” an FBI criminal complaint says.
The purpose of the complaint is to establish probable cause for bringing charges against white supremacist James von Brunn, 88, in the shooting death Wednesday of a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Von Brunn will be charged with a federal count of murder and, if convicted, could face the death penalty, acting U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips said.

The suspect also faces a charge of killing while in possession of a firearm in a federal facility, said Cathy Lanier, chief of the District of Columbia’s Metropolitan Police Department.

Von Brunn remained hospitalized in critical condition Thursday from shots fired by other security guards. The complaint says he was shot in the face and fell backward outside the museum’s front door.

Stephen Tyrone Johns, the security guard who was shot to death, had opened the door for the gunman, who then raised a rifle and killed him, authorities told reporters Thursday.

Turn Your iPhone Into a Remote Mouse and Keyboard

April 27, 2009

I thought that this was kind of interesting.

When I give presentations, watch movies from the sofa in my office, or need to start a task away from my desk, I don’t want to be within arm’s length of my mouse. So I appreciate the freedom offered by Air Mouse Pro ($6, buy-only), a full-featured remote control from R.P.A. Tech. The top half of the Air Mouse Pro Screen features a two-button trackpad, while the bottom half gives you a keyboard, along with controls for browsing the Web and playing movies and music.

Read the whole story and see what other tricks you can figure out for yourself.

Technical Issues

Your barbarian has many talents and can easily hold his own in battle. Give him a broadsword, mace, lance, or any other weapon and he is comfortable and proficient.

This morning he learned that he still has much to learn in the way of computers. Somehow he managed to lose some comments and other items here.

Excuse me while I roar in frustration.

A Barbarian Discusses Pirates

December 13, 2008

Lately there has been an awful lot of talk about the pirates off of the coast of Somalia. Now I don’t know about you, but your barbarian prefers action to talk.

If these pirates were menacing my ships I’d unleash the barbarian hordes upon them. I harass and harry them to no end. I’d chase them to the ends of the earth and give no quarter.

Attack my ships and you’ll find yourselves in a world of hurt. Hell would be unleashed upon your heads. Your ships would be sunk and we would take no prisoners. Find yourself in the water and you might find yourself with a harpoon through your pirate skull.

Given a little time you’d find that there would be a sudden end to piracy on the seas. It would be considered far too dangerous to do. Too much risk for too little reward.

But I have little hope that this sort of thing will happen. Far more likely that we will see the pirates continue to act with impunity. And behind the scenes foolish people will continue to help fund their lawless actions by paying ransoms or tribute to prevent attacks.
