Bush/Cheney Using Lohan Advice For Foreign Policy

Your barbarian is disappointed to report that the headline for this post is not as ridiculous as it sounds. You may have read the recent reports:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The United States is developing a proposed $20 billion, 10-year arms sales package for Saudi Arabia, a senior administration official confirmed on Saturday.

The proposed sale, first reported in The New York Times, is intended to upgrade the Saudi military’s ability to counter possible Iranian aggression in the Persian Gulf region, the official said.

“This is all about Iran,” said the official, who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity because discussions with the Saudis are still going on and the arms sale deal has not been completed.

Iran. Are you kidding me. They plan on supplying the despots of Saudia Arabia. Have they forgotten that nineteen of the 911 hijackers were Saudis. Have they forgotten that most of the foreign fighters in Iraq are Saudi or that the two faced Saudis are still among the biggest financiers of terror in the world.

I am speechless. There is a reason why I became an independent and every day the Republicans and the Democrats prove to me that the system is broken. Every day I look for a voice of sanity and I shake my head because what I see are two sets of fingers pointing at each other. Each side loves to blame the others for the ills of the world and country.

The barbarian children behave in this manner. I demand more of the government. I demand that they set aside petty partisan politics and work on the critical issues of the day. It is time to focus on fixing the borders, on improving national security, on providing better health care, public education and affordable housing.

Over at Right Truth I learned that the US is providing grants to Iraqi citizens that can be used to help launch businesses. In concept I appreciate the idea and the goal, but in practice WTF. Here we sit on the verge of a major economic mess and I don’t see any help coming.

Your barbarian is disgusted. Your barbarian is convinced that the Lindsey Lohan team is advising the government because of the sheer stupidity of their actions. Perhaps it is time for me to go back to the old ways. Life was easier and simpler when all I focused upon was pillage and plunder.

The system is broken, no doubt about it. But what do we do? An independent has no chance these days. The idea of giving business loans to Iraqis is just one more idiotic move that this administration has made. Like giving weapons to Saudi Arabia for heaven’s sake. It’s like we are living in an alternate universe.

I don’t know the answer. I voted for Bush but he is not the same man I voted for. It’s like invasion of the body snatchers, Barbarian.

Thanks for the mention, always appreciated.

Some of us are more morally conscientious than you are, i guess. :) we believe in putting the lives of others before our own, especially since we destroyed their country based on lies. *Grins*

As for the saudi hijackers etc… those aren’t reasons to persecute muslims nor saudis… nor the saudi royal family.

perhaps the saudi royal family is guilty of other misdeeds, but your reasoning is placing blame on XYZ because of what ABC did, just because they look alike.

    Debbie,

I don’t have any brilliant ideas. An independent cannot work alone, but he/she can work on constructing alliances that will be effective in creating change.

Morally conscientious in this case is a throwaway term. It is a case of smoke and mirrors. We did not destroy the country. It is a distortion of the truth to suggest that we did.

Who is talking about persecuting anyone. I said that it is a mistake to supply them with weapons. I pointed out that they are a major problem and support terror. No where did I suggest any sort of action other than not selling our enemies weapons.

I find it funny to see you accuse me of flawed reasoning. Read what I wrote…again.

It’s the last Sunday in July, 2007, and there is much going on in this wonderful world of ours. I have selected some serious articles, some humor, from all sides of the political spectrum. Prop your feet up, put on

Why can’t congress scuttle this “deal”? Are the GOP zombies so fanatical to their god king Bush that they can’t see the potential blowback from this idiotic arms sale?

It seems to me like this is one more step towards war with Iran. Or maybe our government is trying to sell the US out to the people with all the oil money. Does anyone else remember when they were going to sell our ports to some middle east countries (and this was well after 9/11, last year in fact) – so much for securing our borders. If you don’t remember, do a search on “bush selling ports” Once it hit the news and people loudly voiced outrage, it was ended (as far as we know) – but what if they’d managed to sneak it through?
So yes, let’s arm to the teeth the people with more money than God and a religion that doesn’t like us, possible terrorist ties, and the ability to cut off our major supply of oil (or at least cause an oil panic) – yes, that sounds like a capital idea. Because us arming Saddam in the 60’s turned out so well for us. But most, if not all, of our government will be dead from old age in 40 years, so maybe the master plan is for it to not be their problem. They’ll die rich with the most toys.

As for switching to independent. I don’t think that will as effective as switching to republican and writing letters (not email) to all your republican politicians. I would think they would be more likely to listen to the opinion of a voter they think will vote for them, long before they would listen to a voter who they think would vote against them regardless. But that’s just my opinion – take it for what it’s worth.

    Good question.

    nysiah,

I am still registered, but I don’t consider myself a member of either party. I’ll cross lines whenever and wherever it makes sense to me.

    Salahudin,

That is the response I expected. Not much substance there.
